MDRs Green Sky Thinking Evening

By April 17, 2013News

MDRs offices were certainly the place to be on the 17th April 2013, with the highly anticipated Green Sky Thinking event. In collaboration with Team London Bridge (Business Improvement District), MDR were hosts to four pertinent presentations regarding sustainability. Looking at building regulations, the public realm and innovative green solutions, the speeches certainly provided an interesting and useful insight into the sustainable built environment. With the ever-increasing awareness of the benefits of sustainable building design and imposing government regulations, it is essential to keep up to date on all things green in order to meet the increasing expectations of all stakeholders.

Iraj Maghounaki, managing director of Energy Rating Services kick started the evening looking at BREEAM and the need for sustainable design.
Following Iraj was Andy Thomas of Butler & Young, providing an in depth analysis of Zero Carbon Buildings.
Mehron Kirk of BDP engaged the audience by looking at the value of the public realm, using Deptford as a fascinating case study.
Finally, the charismatic Gary Grant finished the presentations by analysing innovative green solutions. Being involved in the Westfield Green Wall, Gary provided an interesting insight into the benefits green walls and roofing has to the built environment.
MDR would like to thank those involved in the organisation of the event, along with all those who attended. The evening was very well received by all and will hopefully prove to be the first Green Sky Thinking event of many hosted by MDR.
